I have a beautiful deep cherry red scarf that cheers up any oufit I wear it with. It's ideal for those winter days when everything seems dull and grey, looking as warm as it feels. The colour reflects upwards on to my face, giving my complexion a wonderful glow, which is important at a time of year when you can look a bit washed out. It's the colour of shiny red apples, of ripe cherries, raspberries and cranberries, but has just enough of a blue tinge to prevent it being reminiscent of blood. Red is a cheerful colour, the colour of life and activity - it makes me feel happier just to look at it. It's a colour that goes well with neutrals, and black, so it complements most of my wardrobe. Some people associate red with anger, but for me it's more about warmth, comfort and good cheer, and wearing a scarf of this colour is a great way to carry those feelings around with you! |

My favorite fashion item is a beautiful, ivory-colored lace scarf - it goes so well with my other accessories, like my evening bags. I originally bought it to wear over my shoulders on my wedding day, but since then it has become a regular staple in my wardrobe. It is elegant, yet breezy and lightweight, and it can really change the look and feel of my outfit. Because it’s a creamy, ivory color, it goes with just about any colors. I loosely knot it around my neck and leave the ends hanging down for some added flair. On a cold day, if I wrap it around multiple times, it can even provide a little warmth on my neck area, especially if I’m wearing a low-cut or v-neck shirt. I almost always get compliments on it whenever I wear it – even my kids like it! At first, I thought it would be so delicate that it would snag on things, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by its durability. Even the fringe at the ends is still intact. |

Gift buying can be a very difficult task, depending on the person. This Christmas, I tried to find something that was very personal to each of my family members. When choosing presents, I tried to pick something that had to do with their hobbies. For example, my father is an Elvis fan. I usually buy him Elvis presents. This time, I got a coffee table book. My mother likes dogs, so I typically get her something with her favorite breed. My brother is a soccer nut, so he got a jersey from his favorite time. These gifts were not too difficult to pick out, since I know my family members. For some people, I even made gifts for them using my jewellery making supplies.
I had to get a few gifts for colleagues at work. This is more difficult. I don’t like to get gift cards, since they seem very impersonal. Again, I try to think of something useful and thoughtful. I listen to hear if they mention something they want, or look on their desk to see what they’re interested in. If all else fails, I always find it nice to take a peer out for a nice lunch. |

I have a wide range of taste when it comes to fashions. Sometimes I like to sport a "grunge" look and I wear my Doc Martens and jeans, sometimes I like a lighter, more womanly look and wear one of my Forever Unique dresses. I am not like one of these people who have this fixed identity 24/7 - you know the types - the punks, the mods, the goths etc - it's just so tedious - like a uniform to me. I like to go with my mood, to the extent that people quite often don't even recognise me in the street sometimes! I'm a real chameleon with my changing of styles, and I love surprising people. I wish more people were like me and would not be so stuck on one particular aspect of fashion, but would express their current mood more accurately through what they were wearing that day. |

Handbags come in all shapes and sizes - from gold clutch bags to big bulky satchels. When I buy a handbag, there are several features I always look for. The first is that it has to be made of good quality material. This is usually leather. Because I have silly sentimental feelings about the cow giving up its hide just so I can carry my stuff, I try to make the purse last me as long as possible. My last handbag was holding up well in the bag part, but the straps were wearing out. My nephew, who does leather and chain mail work fixed this situation in a very stylish manner. It will hold up for a long time now. The other features I look for in a hand bag are outside pockets. These are essential because I smoke and don’t like digging in the inner compartment. This is also true for my cell phone. I like it to be in a pocket on the outside of the purse for easy accessibility. |

Or are they? You see, I'm off to Australia, so no - this title is misleading. If I were staying in the UK, yes I'd be forced to put my Savannah summer sandals away for another year, but I'm living a perennial summer with 6 months in Brisbane planned before returning to the UK in the English summer. With all these summer months ahead, will my sandals last the distance? One thing's for sure, I'll be honing my summer wear and see what the Aussie wear to look both chic and keep cool at the same time. I know Brisbane gets particularly hot there December through to March, so I'm guessing a lot of the time, the Aussies will be indoors, and not mad like us Brits who like to turn a lobster colour and get a tan at all costs - in fact some of the palest people I've met are Aussies. |

Getting an appropriate size is one of the most crucial factors to be considered when buying baby shoes. Even before you step out to the store to get the shoe, you must know the exact size that will fit your baby well. Getting the right fit ensure that the baby is very comfortable in the shoe whether for a light walk, playing or just relaxing. Again, you should be careful to avoid poorly fitting shoes as they can cause deformities on the weak baby feet. To get the right fitting baby shoes, you must have exact measurement of the feet.
Keep in mind that babies have very delicate feet as the bones and tendons are not fully developed and still need room to grow. To correct fit the baby shoes, first start by checking the shoes’ widest width. Do this by pinching the shoe when the baby is putting it on. The right fit should form a small space pinch. You should also check the space in the baby shoes simply by pressing at the tip especially at the longest toe. Alternatively, you can insert your finger where the ankle ends in the shoe. Do not accept too much or too little space.
Again, your finger should snugly fits in when inserted in the baby shoes to the longest toe. This should actually allow you to press not less than half inch of the toe room. Let the baby wear the shoe and there should be enough space left. Always make sure the baby shoes do not freely slip out of the feet. This ensure the shoe remain firm on the feet as the baby plays. |

I do love shoes, but not all types. For example, I’ve never been one for high heeled shoes. I’m already near six feet tall and balancing on high heels just makes me look silly (not to mention it makes me even taller than my husband and he gets funny about that). So compared to most women I don’t have a large shoe collection. But I must admit to having a bit of a thing about boots. My love affair with boots started when I was just a student. Sitting there in a store window was a pair of English flat-heeled riding boot style leather boots, a rich chestnut brown in color. Oh! I wanted those boots! But they were over $300, and I had nothing like that amount of money. So I waited and waited for the sales. Then came the day after Christmas and the mad rush to the bargains. And there were my boots. Marked down to $100. And they still had my size! They fitted like a glove and I bought them even if it meant living on noodles for the next month. I wore those boots for years, until they couldn’t be repaired anymore. I can afford boots like those easily now. But nothing means as much to me as that first pair I bought as a student. |

Fresh Water Pearls are highly unique and beautiful at best. They are called fresh water pearls because they are made from freshwater mussels. Not only are they produced in the United States but they are produced in Japan as well. Unfortunately they are produced on a limited scale. And this is why they are considered to be unique. Freshwater pearl are no longer allowed to be called by this name, instead the Federal trade commission refers for them to be called fresh water cultured pearls.
The Biwa Pearly mussel was responsible for creating the freshwater pearl in Lake Biwa. And it now holds a significant place in history due to it’s non existence. The only country that currently produces fresh water pearls is China, whom ended up producing around 1500 tons in the year 2005. To this day Freshwater pearls are unique and gorgeous in their own right, rare to not only us but to the world. |

When worn correctly, accessories can make even the simplest of clothes stylish! But at the same time, if they don’t flaunt your features wonderfully, it could do the exact opposite.
To avoid this, you should only wear fashion accessories that frame your face well and compliment your face shape. Finding your face shape should be simple, really. Pull your hair back and look in the mirror. What shape does it resemble?
If your face resembles an oval, you’re in luck. Almost all kinds of accessories will fit your face! You just have to make sure the colors suit you.
If your jaw line is long and angular (also called the “rectangular” face shape), wear hoops, small necklaces and other circular pieces. This is to soften the lines of your face.
On the other hand, round faced girls should do the opposite. Big hoops can make you look rounder, so avoid those. Instead, go for items like drop earrings and long necklaces.
And if your face is heart shaped, you can wear almost anything, too! The only thing to avoid is chunky accessories, since they add some heaviness to the chin area. |

I always wear jewellery appropriate to the season I'm in. For example, right now I'm wearing a turquoise snowflake brooch as it's rather wintery outside. I love how the weather dictates my jewellery choices. In the spring and summer, I love wearing jewellery in the shapes of flowers. In autumn, I have jewellery shaped as leaves, and I wear a lot of orange and brown then too.
If I hate the weather, I refuse to wear any jewellery at all. If I'm too hot in the summer, or too cold in the winter, I protest to the weather Gods by refusing to adorn any jewellery - in the hopes they see my protest and change the weather! I'm a daft old bat, I know - but it's the spiritual side of me. I feel that we should connect ourselves to the weather in some way so we can tune into it and get the most out of it. |

Yep, the title says it all - how to multiply your money by four during Christmas. First multiply it by two - work during the holidays - any employee-respecting company will be offering double pay during the particularly special days of the holidays - Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. In a way, it's good to work on these days as it's a way to keep the weight off too!
Then shop for bargains - you can get up to 50% (or more) during the holidays - that's effectively doubling the power of your money again! I went shopping for Vertigineux lingerie and found some great bargains on my local high street. Normally I wouldn't buy such luxuries, but if you're willing to wait, you will find them at very cheap prices. And if you take my advice, you won't have maxed out on your credit cards by the time January comes around - and there's more bargains to be had then too! |
