The Classic Albums Really Do Stand the Test of Time

When I hear some classic tracks by the likes of The Jam, The Smiths and The Police, it makes me realise how much a band relies on a good producer to give them a unique signature sound. Stephen Street managed it with The Smiths very well. He gave them an earthy, stripped down sound, but also introduced some ambient effects (e.g. How Soon Is Now?) that gave some of the tracks a really haunting effect. A search for recording studios rome revealed a couple of studios near me I'm interested in visiting to lay down a couple of tracks with the help of a pro producer. I really want to see what's involved. My music isn't something that I think would work commercially, but I just want to see the production process firsthand and see what producers do to get that extra few drops out of a song - it will be a learning experience for me.
